Breed Info
Both Wheatens and Schapendoes are medium-sized and good family dogs. Each breed has distinct characteristics which, of course, vary by individual.
Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers
Wheatens are a friendly breed and they have a sense of humor. In my experience they enjoy training but most of them
do not like repetitive drilling (with some exceptions). They love walks and are always ready to participate but
are also content to just hang out with their family. Although they don't shed much, their coats bring in everything
from outside (leaves, snow, twigs, etc.). They can have higher prey drive (it varies). Wheatens retain their playful
nature well past middle-age. Wheatens require frequent grooming (brushing and trimming).

Schapendoes
Schapendoes are also a goofy breed to live with. They are happy and always up for anything.
In my experience they
love to work but have a nice off switch and are willing to just hang out with
the family. They are very biddable and don't mind repetitive training. They have a
longer coat that sheds a little more than the Wheatens but the coat care is much easier. They
require no trimming but regular brushing. For more breed infomation click on the following links.
